400 East 9th Street; 146-148 First Avenue Building Date : 1851 Original Use : Residential Original Owner : James Wood Original Architect : Unknown Description & Building Alterations Block 5 is comprised of three buildings erected together along with lots 7 and 8 in 1851. The buildings are four-stories along First Avenue and 9th Street with a two-story portion at the rear along 9th Street.

Most historic details have been removed or stripped, including a cornice on the west facade. Simple rectangular window lintels and sills still remain.
