Martin Elkind (1960-64) Description & Building Alterations This five-story residential building was altered from two four-story with basement tenements originally on the lot.

During an alteration in 1916, the entrances to the two tenements at 225-227 East 10th Street were moved to the basement. It was not until 1960 that the two buildings were combined into one, from an alteration designed by M. Martin Elkind. The present facade features a plain brick surface. Most of the historical elements were lost after the renovation.
