We don’t know this man's name or age nor where he moved after the State seized the rooming house at 36 Jay Street where he was living. This image offers a rare window into the life of one of the roughly one thousand single men and women who once made their homes in Albany’s rooming house district. Like the man in this photograph, members of this transient group are largely undocumented and forgotten by other former residents.
