Pat and Nick Iarossi opened their restaurant and bar in the mid-1930s, promising to serve "Albany's largest sandwich and beer at the smallest price." Pat's Tavern also advertised "real Italian" spaghetti with meat balls. In 1962, when this stretch of Madison Avenue was seized by the State, the owner was Joseph Viviano, who lived with his family in the upstairs apartment.
