Albert Maltz lived at 35 Maple Street in 1930. "He was an American author and screenwriter who was one of the Hollywood Ten who were blacklisted by the Hollywood movie studio bosses during the era of McCarthyism. He was educated at Columbia University and the Yale School of Drama. Maltz worked as a playwright for the Theatre Union during the early 1930s and wrote his first of eighteen screenplays for Hollywood in 1932. At the Theater Union he met Margaret Larkin, whom we married in 1937. He won the 1938 O. Henry Award for "The Happiest Man on Earth," a short story published in Harper's Magazine. In 1944 he published the novel The Cross and the Arrow.For his script for the 1945 film Pride of the Marines, Maltz was nominated for an Academy Award for Writing Adapted Screenplay. He won the 1951 Writers Guild of America Award for Best Written American Drama for his screenplay for Broken Arrow. However, due to his blacklisting at the time, fellow MPAA screenwriter Michael Blankfort put his name on the script as the only way to get it accepted by any of the Hollywood movie studios. As such, Blankfort was named the winner until things were made right for Maltz, albeit posthumously, in 1997 when the Writers Guild of America unanimously voted to restore screen credit to those who had been blacklisted."

Richard Dreyfuss was born in Brooklyn, New York, "the son of Norman Dreyfus (1920–2013), an attorney, restaurateur and owner of a plastics company originally from a "violent gang culture in Brooklyn"and Geraldine (née Robbins; 1921–2000), a peace activist. Norman Dreyfus suffered from the debilitating physical effects of being caught in a mortar explosion at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, requiring the use of crutches, canes, and special footwear provided by the Army for the rest of his life. He left the family when his son was 21 years old, and remarried more than once; he and his son were not on speaking terms at the time of his death. " Dreyfuss' parents were living at 2110 Westbury Court in the early-mid 1940's. It's possible that this is where he lived prior to moving to Bayside, Queens.

Pinky Lee lived at 395 Ocean Avenue in 1940."Pinky Lee (Pincus Leff 1907-1993 ) was a comedian and 1950's kids show host who got his start as a burlesque comedian. It was a high energy show to say the least in 1954 it was on a list of shows that were “unfit” for children. He was beset by parental complaints that his show was causing their children to misbehave and wanted NBC tone down Pinky's show. In 1955 a severe sinus attack caused Pinky to collapse on stage, this was a live tv remember. This along with the parental complaints spelled doom for this over the top show. The rest his career was spent on the The Ed Sullivan Show, Bob Hope specials, game shows, and the burlesque and dinner theater circuit. Years later he would be reborn as Pee Wee Herman (aka Paul Reubens) who was most assuredly a spiritual grandson."

Melville Shavelson (April 1, 1917 – August 8, 2007) was an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and author. Shavelson was born to a Jewish family in Brooklyn and graduated from Cornell University in 1937. He worked as a writer on comedian Bob Hope's radio show, The Pepsodent Show Starring Bob Hope. HE came to Hollywood in 1938 as one of Hope's joke writers, a job he held for the next five years. He was responsible for the screenplays of such Hope films as The Princess and the Pirate (1944), Where There's Life (1947), The Great Lover (1949), and Sorrowful Jones (1949), which also starred Lucille Ball. Shavelson was nominated twice for Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay—first for 1955's The Seven Little Foys, starring Hope in a rare dramatic role, and then for 1958's Houseboat. He shared both nominations with Jack Rose. He also directed both films. Other films he wrote and directed include Beau James (1957), The Five Pennies (1959) for which he won a Screen Writers Guild Award, It Started in Naples (1960), On the Double (1961), The Pigeon That Took Rome (1962), A New Kind of Love (1963), Cast a Giant Shadow (1966), and Yours, Mine and Ours (1968), which starred Henry Fonda and again with Lucille Ball." Shavelson, as a young boy, lived above the toy store that his father had at this address for many years .

John Frederick Coots (May 2, 1897 – April 8, 1985) was an American songwriter. "He composed over 700 popular songs and over a dozen Broadway shows. In 1934, Coots wrote the melody with his then chief collaborator, lyricist Haven Gillespie, for the biggest hit for them both "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town."The song became one of the biggest sellers in American history. In 1934, when Gillespie brought him the lyrics to "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town", Coots came up with the skeleton of the music in just ten minutes. Coots took the song to his publisher, Leo Feist Inc., who liked it but thought it was "a kids' song" and didn't expect too much from it. Coots offered the song to Eddie Cantor who used it on his radio show that November and it became an instant hit. The morning after the radio show there were orders for 100,000 copies of sheet music and by Christmas sales had passed 400,000." Coots lived at 1001 Ocean Avenue in 1930

Waite Hoyt lived at 52 Clarkson Avenue in 1918 after his discharge from WW1 military service. He was an American right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball, one of the dominant pitchers of the 1920s, and the most successful pitcher for the New York Yankees during that decade. Hoyt was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Addison and Louise Benedum Hoyt, and attended Erasmus Hall High School. Despite being a Dodgers fan, Hoyt was signed to a professional contract by New York Giants manager John McGraw when he was but 15. Because of his extreme youth, he was immediately nicknamed "The Schoolboy Wonder".After a brief stint with the Giants, McGraw sent Hoyt to the minors for refinement and experience. Hoyt soon returned to the majors, this time with the Boston Red Sox. His performance there attracted the attention of the Yankees, who acquired him in 1920. In his first season as a Yankee, he won 19 games and pitched three complete games in the World Series without allowing an earned run — over his career, he would win six American League pennants with the Yankees and one with the Philadelphia Athletics. In his finest years with the Yankees, 1927 and 1928, Hoyt would post records of 22 wins and 7 losses with a 2.64 ERA and 23 wins and 7 losses with a 3.36 ERA. During his 21-year career, he won 10 or more games 12 times, 11 of them consecutively. Hoyt pitched for eight years after leaving the Yankees in 1930, but did not consistently display similar levels of pitching dominance.

He is best known as playing Chief of Police Fletcher Daniels in Hill Street Blues throughout the series' run. He is also known for his work in Cinderella, As the World Turns, Major Dad, Probe, and Santa Barbara. He has also performed several times on Broadway, particularly in musical theatre. Born in New York City, Cypher graduated from Erasmus Hall High School (1949) and Brooklyn College (1953). Cypher later received a master's degree in marriage and family counseling from the University of Vermont. Cypher made his television debut as the Prince in the original 1957 production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella opposite Julie Andrews in the title role. He is particularly remembered as Chief of Police Fletcher Daniels in Hill Street Blues, a role he played throughout the lifetime of the series (1981–87). He played Commanding General Marcus Craig on Major Dad, alongside Gerald McRaney and Beverly Archer, and appeared as Howard Millhouse in the short-lived television series Probe. He played Dr. Alex Keith on As the World Turns (1977–79) and Dr. Arthur Donnelly on Santa Barbara (1988–89).Other television credits include the recurring roles of Belson in The F.B.I., Dirk Maurier in Dynasty, Eric Brandon in Marcus Welby, M.D., and Jeff Munson in Knots Landing. He was blacklisted in the 1950s, and was indicted for contempt of Congress but subsequently acquitted.Tyne, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, began his acting career under the name Buddy Yarus. He used that name when appearing in the 1945 war film Objective Burma!, and in the Laurel and Hardy film The Dancing Masters (1943). As "George Tyne" he appeared in A Walk in the Sun, Sands of Iwo Jima and Thieves Highway.Tyne also appeared on Broadway in a number of roles, including the hit 1954 play Lunatics and Lovers.Tyne was blacklisted from the movies in 1951 and from television in 1952, after his name was publicized in congressional committee hearings into alleged Communist infiltration of the entertainment industry. In August 1955, the House Un-American Activities Committee held hearings in New York City to probe alleged Communist infiltration of Broadway, radio and television. Tyne was one of seven witnesses who refused to answer questions about whether they had been members of the Communist Party. "Maltz and other members of the Hollywood Ten attempted again in 1960 to fight the blacklist, this time by filing an anti-trust suit claiming the studios had conspired illicitly in restraint of trade by enforcing the unofficial blacklist through mutual pressure not to employ the affected creative personnel. Coverage of the suit noted that the plaintiffs "include three winners of Oscars, the highest artistic award of the movie industry" — at least two of which were won for pseudonymous writing (The Defiant Ones and Inherit the Wind are named) — and that while use of the anti-trust laws for civil rights suits was "unusual," it was "not unique." Maltz was finally employed again on Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970), which was a vehicle for the popular actors Clint Eastwood and Shirley MacLaine. "(July 23, 1908 – October 8, 1978) Of Swedish descent, burly, light-haired character actor Karl Swenson was born in Brooklyn and started his four-decade career on radio. Throughout the late 30s and 40s, his voice could be heard all over the airwaves, appearing in scores of daytime serials ("Lorenzo Jones") and mystery dramas ("Inner Sanctum Mysteries"). He gave visual life to one of his serial characters, Walter Manning, in "Portia Faces Life" when it went to TV in 1953. It was during his lengthy work in this medium that he met his wife, stage and radio actress Joan Tompkins. They appeared together throughout their careers on TV and in a few films. In the 1950s, he kept afloat on TV in rugged guest spots (Dr. Kildare (1961), Gunsmoke (1955), Maverick (1957), Mission: Impossible (1966) and Hawaii Five-O (1968)). He didn't appear in films until age 50+ with minor roles in Kings Go Forth (1958), North to Alaska (1960), The Birds (1963) and The Sons of Katie Elder (1965). His voice was also well utilized in such animated features as The Sword in the Stone (1963) as the voice of Merlin. Karl met actor Michael Landon on the set of Bonanza (1959), appearing in four separate episodes over time. Landon remembered him when he began to film Little House on the Prairie (1974). "(August 5, 1918 – August 11, 1982) Tom Drake was born Alfred Alderice in Flatbush, Brooklyn and was educated at the Iona School and then at Mercersberg Academy in Virginia. After acting in stock from the age of 18, he graduated to Broadway in June Night (‘38) followed by roles in a string of other shows. He went to Hollywood to try his luck in movies and was cast for a small part in The Howards of Virginia (‘40), billed as Richard Alden. He was excused from serving in World War II due to heart problems. Despite this limitation, he did act in British naval training films. He got his break after starring in the 1942 Broadway smash Janie, after which he was signed to a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer but when there were no further film offers, he returned to N.Y. and obtained the juvenile lead in Janie (‘42). It was a highly popular comedy which brought him to the attention of MGM studios. His MGM debut was in Two Girls and a Sailor (‘44) and in the next five years he made 36 films, which included two of the Lassie films: Courage of Lassie and Hills of Home. He played the role of Judy Garland’s boyfriend in Meet Me in St. Louis and became universally known as “the boy next door”.In Raintree County (‘57) Tom’s studio friend Elizabeth Taylor, from the days of Lassie, obtained for him the featured role of her brother. Tom came back to Broadway during the 50s and also did stock and frequent TV performances. It was back to Hollywood in the 60s for roles in The Bramble Bush, The Sandpiper, The Singing Nun, and others. Rambling Jack Elliott lived at 102 Linden Blvd. "Ramblin' Jack Elliott (born Elliot Charles Adnopoz; August 1, 1931) is an American folk singer and Elliott was born in 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, United States, the son of Florence (Rieger) and Abraham Adnopoz, an eminent doctor. His family was Jewish. He attended Midwood High School in Brooklyn and graduated in 1949. Elliott grew up inspired by the rodeos at Madison Square Garden, and wanted to be a cowboy. Encouraged instead to follow his father's example and become a surgeon, Elliott rebelled, running away from home at the age of 15 to join Col. Jim Eskew's Rodeo, the only rodeo east of the Mississippi. They traveled throughout the Mid-Atlantic states and New England. He was with them for only three months before his parents tracked him down and had him sent home, but Elliott was exposed to his first singing cowboy, Brahmer Rogers, a rodeo clown who played guitar and five-string banjo, sang songs, and recited poetry. Back home, Elliott taught himself guitar and started busking for a living. Eventually he got together with Woody Guthrie and stayed with him as an admirer and student."
