Fraunces Tavern is by far the oldest restaurant on this list. Originally built as a mansion for the Stephen De Lancey family in 1719, the building later opened in 1762 as Fraunces Tavern. But this historic building is not just known for being a restaurant-- it is also a colonial-era museum and NYC landmark!

The Bridge Cafe was a grocery and "wine and porter bottler" that opened in 1794. Once called Empire House and, later, Water Street Cafe, the eatery was only renamed the Bridge Cafe in 1989. While it has survived two centuries, various renovations, and Prohibition, the restaurant was shuttered in 2012 following Hurricane Sandy.
