Merry-Go-Round nightclub, ca. 1939.
The Sunnyside nightclub became a post-fight attraction for boxing fans attending bouts at the nearby Sunnyside Gardens arena (not to be confused with the housing development of the same name). It later became known for its topless entertainment, though as the New York Times noted in 1994, this development “had virtually no impact on the quality of life in [its neighborhood]."
