126 West Drive, 1965.
The original section of this Dutch Colonial house was built in 1735 by Cornelius Van Wyck. The home was expanded greatly after this original construction and by 1770 the house included wings to the south and east. Cornelius's son Stephen, who was a delegate to the Continental Congress, was largely responsible for the additions. The house was sold by the Van Wyck family in 1819. The new homeowner, Winant Van Zandt, had also purchased 120 acres of adjacent land to the north and had his own larger mansion built there. The Van Wyck House became a sort of gatehouse to the Van Zandt home. The larger home became the Douglaston Club in the early 20th century, along with the surrounding land and the Van Wyck home.
The original 18th century home once again became a private residence in 1915 and was restored to its original condition. It was purchased in 1936. The home was put up for sale in 2017 for $3.25 million.
