Welling Court, now home to an incredible collection of murals, was once studded with modest wood-framed homes. See what this small community looked like before there were murals.

Though most houses in the area made way for manufacturing spaces, most of the churches - as seen at right, have managed to hold their ground.

This firehouse, on Main Avenue, has been replaced with a community garden.

Rapelje Mansion
The Rapelje Mansion was built in 1790 by Jacobus Riker whose daughter married Cornelius Rapelje. The building was razed and the property is now part of the Astoria Houses.

Albert Gallatin House
Like many of the colonial and Victorian homes in Astoria that survived into the 20th century, these homes were demolished in the 30s and 40s.
