"My mom and I live in Ridgewood. At the beginning of the pandemic, we went two months without seeing my sister because the risk of contracting the virus was too high. My sister and mom (pictured below) met for the first time since early March. We took a walk down Myrtle Ave. that day and most of the stores in the area were closed." –– Angela Matua

"The unexpected COVID-19 pandemic changed our plan for the summer because we can’t hang out with friends. We can only stay at home adapting to a new lifestyle. During this time, we used messages and calls to learn about the current situations of our friends. I missed my friends and wanted to know: how is everything going? What has changed? When the pandemic was stabilized, my best friend and I decided to go for a walk in the park together. It’s been a long time since the last time I came out, I felt fresh and excited. I was surprised when I saw her changes. She got much skinnier and stronger due to constant exercises and dances. We talked so much while we walked around the turtle pond. My friend gave me energy and support. I look forward to hanging out with her more often after the pandemic has ended. There is beautiful scenery behind, and a beloved friend by my side. I found that we have so many things to look forward to after the pandemic." –– Fei Wang

"Isolation is the word that comes to mind. My neighbors and I pre-Covid were very social and friendly and would see each other daily in the halls and around the community. Now, because of lockdown, we rarely see each other. And, when we do, it is from a 6 ft distance and all we can do is wave at each other and keep on going. "Covid-19 has provided me with a different perspective on photography. I had always thought that a good setting accounts for a good picture. But since quarantine started, I realized that photographs of simple things can turn out to be so amazing. If taken at the right moment, even a pic of a drop of tap water can look cool. This pandemic has really caused me to look deeper inside my house and search for tiny yet marvelous things to take pictures of. Some of the ones that I have shared here include a bug on the wall of my house, a pigeon seen from my balcony and a rain droplet dripping on my window." –– Adhishree Fnu

"No one is wearing masks. I mean it feels like no one when it’s just 1 person in a crowd. My cousin lost her mother to Covid. My childhood friend lost his dad to covid. My cousin, a nurse, had covid. My neighbors, the married couple working in corrections, had covid 19. My neighborhood activist lost his life to covid 19 and it hurt me. I wish all people would take it serious enough to care . "The school is still there, and the lights are still on. But there was no one in it, no teacher’s voice of teaching lesson, and no student’s voice of asking questions. It’s the same way to the school, the roadside was bare before, but now it is covered with grass. Everything has changed, in silence, in a snap of the finger." –– Fei Wang
