Newtown - Moore House - Elmhurst
Moore House - Looking from Broadway to the front and east end. In the 1920s the house was still on a 5 1/2 acre tract bounded by Broadway, 45th Ave., and 80th Street. The center part of the house dated back to 1666, and was built by Capt. Samuel Moore. The newest part was built in 1760 by Lt. Samuel Moore. The Perry family descendants of the Moore family occupied the house in the 1920s. It was torn down about 1930 for subway construction. It is the now Moore Homestead Playground in a smaller footprint.
