The 207th Street Yard extends from 207th to 215th Streets between 10th Avenue and the Harlem River. Originally constructed for the Independent city-owned system in 1932, today it serves as the home yard for R32 and R160 subway cars used on the C service. It also stores and maintains R32 cars used on the A service, and R62A cars used on the 1 service. This yard is one of two heavy overhaul shops in the transit system, it is equipped with a garbage transfer station and is also the site of various related facilities including: Signal Towers, an Administrative Building at 3961 10th Avenue, which opened in 1932 to accommodate offices for medical, clerical and timekeeping services, car and budget control, material inspection, and related operations, and the site of multiple transit storerooms.
