The Wyckoff House was one the first homes to be designated a New York City landmark. This came right after the establishment of the Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1965. The house's west wing was constructed in 1652, making it the oldest surviving built structure in New York City.

The first of the Ditmars family came to reside in Flatlands when Jan Ditmars purchased a swath of land in 1635 from the Native Americans who occupied this area of Brooklyn. He built his homestead on this property around the mid-17th century.

Jan Martense Schenck's pitched-roof home was constructed in 1675. The Brooklyn Museum acquired this Dutch colonial house in 1964 and reconstructed it inside the museum (where it remains today.)

John Bergen took possession of this home at Bergen Beach (then Meutelaer's Island) at the end of the 17th century. Thomas Spicer had built it 50 years earlier.

This late-18th century Dutch-Colonial farmhouse now stands in Prospect Park, where it serves as a museum and educational center. Peter Lefferts constructed it in 1783 to replace an earlier home that had caught fire in the Battle of Brooklyn.

Lott's homestead was built in 1720 by Johannes Lott. Presently, the house is preserved in its original site with a virtually untouched exterior. It retains its original gambrel roof, spring eaves, and shingled siding.
