The greater Chelsea area from the Hudson River to the west, 14th Street to the south, Madison Avenue on the east, and 34th Street on the north is replete with reminders of its wealthy past from stores to social clubs to mansions.
Not dissimilarly to the current real estate boom, Chelsea was a neighborhood of affluence for socialites and entrepreneurs. As interests began to move uptown, the wealthy followed, moving to Midtown South.
