Not since the age of tenements have New Yorkers so valued our neighborhood parks and greenspaces. From the promenade to the boardwalk, bathhouses to baseball diamonds, urban open space has long been a prized commodity for city-dwellers of all ages.
As we wait out the COVID-19 pandemic from the safety of our apartments, look back at more than century of infrastructure that preserved access to fresh air and recreation for generations of New Yorkers. It will all be there waiting for us when this challenging time passes.
