Bartow Mansion, ca. 1891
French windows and a classic niche on the garden side of this stone house would lead us to believe that it was Italian in inspiration. However, the interior detail is Greek Revival, while the rather conventional front could almost be Georgian. This house has a timeless quality and is an extremely sophisticated piece of design for its day. The gardens are beautifully laid out in relation to the house, which was once the headquarters of the International Garden Club.
