DeVinne Press Building ca. 1977

Home of the famous DeVinne Press, which produced such handsome books in its day, this Romanesque Revival structure, with its low gable end emphasized by the little arches rising beneath it, set a vogue for commercial and industrial buildings that proved a fine, expressive solution for the low-pitched roof. The Judge Building on Fifth Avenue followed suit, as did many others of less note.
