71st Regiment Armory, ca. 1955.

The Armory, although basically Romanesque in design, flaunts a very high medieval Italian tower complete with machicolations and American flags built into the masonry at the top as a decorative element. The architect reputedly asked his little son what he thought ought to go at the top of the tower, to which he replied, "Flags, Daddy."
