In 1912, a commuter railway known as the New York, Westchester, and Boston Railway Company (NYW&B) operated a comfortable and luxurious all-electric service between Mott Haven in the Bronx and Port Chester in Westchester. With the rise of the automobile in the 1920s, the NYW&B's popularity never caught on. The Railway's station houses boast a variety of architectural styles, and have been largely repurposed to serve the IRT Dyre Avenue Line.
