Many articles have been written about the iconic Equitable Life Assurance Building and the 1912 Equitable Life fire, but few mention Kaiser, the building's resident mouser, or Miss Bacillus, a guinea pig living on the 3rd floor of the building. Both of these animals survived for more than two weeks inside the burned-out, frozen shell of the Equitable Life Assurance Building on Broadway following one of the most memorable fires in the annals of the Fire Department of New York.
