625 Madison Avenue was first constructed as a 10-story building in 1930 by the firm of Sloan and Robertson. In 1956 the building was rebuilt with an additional six stories and an International style facade. In 1987, architect Der Scutt (who also designed Trump Tower) reclad the building with dark, tri-color glass. In the 1970s one of the tenents of the building was Viking Press, and it was here that Jackie O. began her publishing career following the death of the second husband.
