Boehm House, 1927.
Originally constructed circa 1770, the Boehm House stood for its first few centuries at the head of Giffords Lane at Arthur Kill Road. While there it had an addition that dates to the 1840s and served as the home to some unknown number of residents. The first documented occupant was Cornelius Poillon, who mortgaged the property in 1814. The family of local schoolteacher Henry Boehm (for whom the house is named) took up residence here in the 1850s and remained through the start of the 20th century.
The symmetrical wood-frame and clapboard house was purchased by the city in 1953 and in 1965 the entire structure was moved to Historic Richmondtown. The edifice was situated on the foundation of the Frost House, a similar looking and aged home, which had burnt down in the 1880s. The home, now known as the Boehm-Frost House, was designated a landmark only three years after the move and underwent extensive renovation in the 1970s.
