Kips Bay Brewing Company Building, ca. 1978.
The brewery, built in 1895 and shuttered in 1947, retains its twin mansard-covered cupolas over the corners of 37th and 38th Streets.
In this late 70s photo by Edmund Vincent Gillon, the southern half of the block-long structure is occupied by The Florentine Craftsmen, a garden supply and furniture depot. The smokestacks belong to the Consolidated Edison Waterside Generating plant, a massive Beaux-Arts structure demolished in 2006.
