Manhattan: Broadway - 29th Street
The old Gilsey House, now serving as an office building, Broadway at the N.E. corner of 29th Street. The Gilsey House, although not a large hotel, was famous for its comfort and the excellence of its cuisine. Its dining room was said to be one of the half a dozen which could be mentioned in the same breath with Delmonico's. It was built in the early 1870's, and was converted into an office building
between 1910 and 1916. It will still stand in 1936.
