Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 42nd Street
Fifth Ave., east side, north from but not including East 42nd Street, showing Temple Emanuel, at the N.E. corner of East 43rd Street. The temple was demolished sometime between 1925 and 193O and on its site was erected the 40-story structure, Lefcourt-National Building. The congregation of Temple Emanuel erected a new house of prayer on Fifth Ave., at the N.E. corner of East 65th Street. The congregation consists of the upper social strata of New York Jewry and services are conducted in English.
