Newburgh's wealth of 19th century ironwork is virtually unparalleled between New York and Albany. Ironwork was intrinsic to the composition of many 19th century places and spaces, and yet it sometimes suffers from neglect. This tour, taking selections from the 2023 Newburgh Ironwork Survey, serves as an introduction to the city's many intact examples of railings, balusters, posts, and more, attesting to the creative capacities of Newburgh builders and iron founders.
