Frank Estabrook
Frank E. Estabrook, 1860-1918, was a Newburgh native, who after attending Newburgh schools, studied architecture at Boston Polytechnic school and returned to Newburgh in 1891 to begin his career. One of his first commissions was the design of Liberty St. School. Designs for the Broadway School, Newburgh YWCA, Quassaick Bank, and Wheelmen's Club followed. A book of photographs and sketches of his designs is available on NY Heritage.
202-204 Montgomery Street
This photograph depicts the residences of Miss Lillie O. Estabrook and Frank Estabrook. An older woman is seated on the porch with a younger woman standing by her side and holding a small child; seated on the lawn is a man with an older child on his lap. The man may be Frank Estabrook holding his son, Harry, and the younger woman may be his wife, Miss Waring, holding her daughter, Marguerita. The other half of the house was the residence of Lillie Estabrook, Frank's sister, who was the city librarian for many years. The house was designed by Frank E. Estabrook.
