According to local lore, the Mud House was the "oldest house in Mississippi. It was made with heavy wood, mud, and moss. It was located near a settlement owned by a French-Canadian named Deslots. This area would become the place where "New Biloxi" was settled. The house changed ownership several times over its many years. It was torn down in the 1950's.
