The railroad connecting New Orleans to Mobile was completed in 1870. Upon its completion, St. Stanislaus College donated land to the railroad to build a train depot. That original depot was destroyed by fire in 1928. Construction on a new depot began almost immediately. The new building was dedicated on April 20th 1929. While passenger service ended in the 1960's, the building remained. It was used as a meeting place for local events and was featured in the 1966 movie, "This Property Is Condemned" starring Robert Redford and Natalie Wood. In more recent years, it has been the home of the Hancock County Tourism Development Bureau, the Bay St. Louis Visitor's Center, and the Alice Moseley Museum.
